Aerangis
punctata Barbara
Native to Madagascar.
Its common name is The Dotted Aerangis due to the spots on
both its leaves and roots. These verrucose or warty quality make them
among the most interesting of all orchid roots! A true miniature, a mature
plant has a leaf span of 2". Though it is often stated that these
plants bear a single flower, our clone Barbara has had SEVEN
per spike. The first blooming may produce just one, but as the plant matures,
they often produce multiple flowers on multiple spikes. This is a true
jewel of the orchid family.
This picture shows 'Barbara' with seven spikes and 22 flowers.
