Angraecum
arachnites
Syn: Angraecum
ramosum var. arachnite
Native to Madagascar. Our experience with this species has been exclusively
with plants imported from their country of origin. When they arrived,
they were quite desicated with the leaves beginning to brown. After a
long soak we placed them on cork with a coconut pad and nestled them into
the spanish moss growing on vertical screens. The plants not as deeply
inserted into the moss continued to suffer much more than those in direct
contact with the moss. This would indicate that they do not want to dry
out. Fred Hillerman notes that potting also works well though we have
not tried this method. Intermediate temperature and low light seem to
make these happy.
