Angraecum
eichlerianum
If you want
an Angraecoid that is unlike many others, this vining species might suit
you well. The stems can grow to an impressive size; over 15 feet long!
We grow ours upright and they require staking to do this. When taller,
we recommend the addition of a tree fern pole for the vine to grow up
on to provide support and a source of moisture for the aerial roots which,
in nature are used to hang on to the trees on which they grow. Angraecum
eichlerianum bears fragrant three inch flowers on thin spikes. They bloom
primarily during the spring and summer, though occasionally other times
(a nice surprise). It enjoys warm, humid conditions and thrives potted
in a loose bark mix. They begin to bloom at a moderate size (10"
to 12" tall).
