Eurychone
rothschildiana
These are an
interesting African orchid that, when out of bloom, look like a phalaenopsis.
What sets the foliage apart are the wavy-edged leaves - very strikng looking!
Not only do the plants look like a phalaenopsis, they can be grown like
a phalaenopsis; in intermediate to warm conditions in moderate light.
The flowers are very different looking though and, like most angraecoids,
they have a wonderful (spicy) fragrance. Weve grown these on plaques
and in pots and will never put another one on a plaque...they just seem
happier in pots! One interesting note for Ang fans...these used to be
called Angraecum rothschildianum.
