Paphiopedilum hainanense
‘Memoria “Doc” Oviatt’
AM, CCM/AOS x self
We received a cultural award from the American Orchid Society in April 2006 and an award of merit in April 2008 on the parent plant. Over the years it’s been a great grower and very reliable bloomer. It has OUTSTANDING foliage, and the color of the flower is very nice. This is one of those species paphs. whose name is in flux. It has also been called Paph. hainanensis, Paph. wolterianum and a variety of Paph. bullenianum. Whatever you decide to call it, it’s one of those lovely flowering ones that can also be grown as a foliage plant because of its striking mottled foliage.
