Plectrelminthus
caudatus
When we saw
a picture of one of these in bloom, it was immediately added to our wish
list. Plectrelminthus is a monotypic genus, widespread in Africa.
They were once called angraecums (not a huge surprise) but are more closely
related to aerangis. They prefer it warm and humid but need to dry out
between waterings. A loose bark mix works well, or they can be plaqued.
Ive read that theyre fragrant...and if its like most
in the subtribe, its a wonderful sweet fragrance in the evening
and at night. I hate admit it, but I didnt go to the greenhouse
after dark to check...it was NOT fragrant during the day.
